Capt. Mike Bryan – 787 ZA003 Assistant Chief Pilot

Capt. Mike Bryan is a 787 engineering project pilot for The Boeing Company. In this position, Bryan is responsible for conducting the flight test program on ZA003, the fourth 787 airplane to enter test.

Bryan joined The Boeing Company in 1997, and has participated in all 737 and 777 flight test programs, including 737-800 Short Field Performance, 737-700 Airborne Early Warning & Control, 737-900 Extended Range, 777-300ER and 777-200 Longer Range.

As an experimental test pilot in St. Louis, Missouri, Bryan served as senior F/A-18 Hornet test pilot and air show demonstration pilot. Flying all F/A-18 models (A-F), he also flew the world debut air show demonstration flight in the Super Hornet at the 2001 Farnborough International Air Show, as well as air shows in ten other countries.

Bryan graduated with honors from Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. He completed his graduate study at the University of Tennessee, receiving a master’s degree in aviation systems. Bryan entered the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, Florida as an aviation officer candidate in September 1984. Commissioned as an ensign in February 1985, he served as a U.S. Navy aviator for 12 years. Bryan’s aviation experience includes over 300 aircraft carrier landings and over 4,000 flight hours in 35 different fixed-wing and rotary aircraft.  He is a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
